Responding to Tisme:
1) The ability to eat as much sugar as you like without any bad side effects…..or free gadgetry for the rest of your life?
Sugar. Gadgets will be more and moer buyable as I go through life - I will never be allowed to guzzle chocolate and sugar in the amounts that I want to.
2) What has been your favourite/most enjoyed/most satisfying computer/video/console game you’ve ever played? Just one, and why.
Aagh! Just one!?!?!?
Doom. The sheer amount of time and enjoyment I've gotten out of playing that game is immense. It wouldn't hold up at all nowadays, but I played it frequently for about 3 years.
3) What do you absolutely, positively HAVE to ask Alan Moore when you meet him next week?
Dave Sim - barking or what?
4) If you could live inside one of the realities portrayed in a comic, which one would it be, and why?
The problem with with living inside a world designed to be exciting is that you tend to be eaten by many-tentacled monstrosities from beyond infinity at least twice a week. If it was a book-based question I'd go for The Culture, without a second thought, but for comics I'm much less sure.
Ooh, Miracleman - that has a utopian ending, I'd just have to make sure i wasn't living in London at the wrong time...
5) Eliza Dushku, Drew Barrymore and Alyson Hannigan. Pick one (and only one!).
Easy. Drew. Eliza's far too young and Alyson's married.
Anyone else want to be quizzed?

I sure as hell can't justify mine.

Date: 2003-06-10 07:35 am (UTC)I wasn't sure how to answer this for some time. There are, of course, things I like about the US, but some of them are definitely not things that I would want to import, and some of them are hard to express. Every time I go back there now, I feel more and more a foreigner, and more and more happy to get back. But then
Though that particular breed of nationalism has its negative aspects, I think it has them primarily in conjunction with some other isms that need not necessarily be taken along with it. Americans do tend to be more community-spirited than the British, and I think they feel less helpless when it comes to actively getting something done in their communities. If Americans felt themselves to be more a part of the world than they do, and less an isolated superpower, a lot could be very different.
That said, America need to get off its blinkered Capitalist high horse and recognise that the acquisition of wealth is not the first and foremost good, and that programmes to further the acquisition of wealth are not appropriate to subserve the provision of basic human needs, such as health care and a stable environment. I think people in the UK are far more likely to have thought about this, being much more exposed to debate and removed from indoctrination about the power for good of the capitalist agenda.
2) What do you love so much about dogs?
Dogs are fantastic. Humans and dogs have lived either together or in co-operation for ages, and it's certainly the oldest human-other mammal partnership around. We have influenced their development in extreme ways, and I would find it a very dubious proposition that they have not influenced ours in any way at all. Humans and dogs are very well suited to each other's companionship, and better suited to cross-species understandings.
Dogs are psychologically interesting. They're great fun to have about. But one of the best things about them is that they really, honestly, truly care about their people. I know that's a point that might be controversial, but the burden of proof is, as far as I'm concerned, on those who would deny it.
3) What would you like to be paid for?
Honest work. I'd love to be paid for research, much though I know that will never happen.
4) You seem to like Golden Heroes a lot - what super power would you love to have the most?
I must admit that I like Golden Heroes primarily for the group with which I'm playing now... tough choice. I take it that Magic and Psionics are out, since they cost one additional power roll, and I only get one? ;) Hmm... I might take Agility, just because it would be so unbelievably much fun. That is, if I couldn't have Psi.
5) Why Cleodhna?
It was different, and suited me in more than three moods.

5) Do you have any long term goals?
