Because [livejournal.com profile] danieldwilliam hadn't seen it, and therefore I assume a few others hadn't either.

And I wonder how many parent and child connections you could draw between the two pictures...

Actually, I've managed to look ridiculously stupid in _much_ less than 40 years. But -- and I'm immensely thankfull about it -- not in these particular areas. My first sense of politico-social Awareness was "Errrumm, no, it's not Right to send people to concentration camps because they or their parents were born in Japan, and if you're going to do that, why don't you do it to people who were from germany and Italy?" (That didn't make me popular in highschool in Glendale, Ca., back in the 1940s, when Black people were required by Law to be outside the city limits by sunset). The second involved the Right of Black (& any other) people to marry anyone who wanted to marry them, and to Vote if they were American Citizens. Then came NOW and the concept of Equal Rights (& pay) for Women (which is still, ridiculously, a Work In Progress). Currently, the Equal Rights thing seems to involve Gay/Lesbian/Transsexual life/rights/marriage. I see this a a no-brain thing -- probably because my defintion of "human" is pretty low-level literal & organic.

The world is just stuffed to bursting with self-righteous wet blankets, isn't it? I remember seeing those marches on the news. I was young in those days but even to this day I remember seeing *all* the marches on the nightly news as Birmingham Alabama was the local news for us.
