My God, Lasquite's food bill must be quite something!

There is a guy who walks a beautiful young Bernie in the woods near us. It's a big animal. Little Dog Draco (English Toy Terrier) bullies it.

Ah, but cats always bully big dogs. Little dogs, on the other hand, bully cats.

(My dog of a lifetime adored one of our cats, and our cat adored him. so much so that, after the dog died, he used to rush up to any dog that looked vaguely like him... as said dog was a GSD/Rough Collie cross that stood 26 inches at the shoulder and weighed about 9 stone...)

Why on earth would anyone need (or want) so many big dogs??

The constant panting noise .. dear god.

"Need" doesn't figure into it, I'm sure -- and for the love of the breed, I'd say. :)

That said, we breed and show American Staffordshire Terriers, and I can't even imagine having 40+.. or 30.. or 20. :)

Dogs are meant to be in packs. It's highly artificial to keep them in ones and twos the way we do.

I've seen Jack Russells in a group and they were the happiest Jacks I've ever seen. I go occasionally on a Basset Hound Welfare walk, and sixty basset hounds playing is utterly different to the usual lugubrious attitude of one or two together.
