The first picture sums up the thesis of Janet Poppendiek's Sweet Charity.

1. pray for the poor
2. cut taxes and wages
3. arrange food banks/glean fields etc.
4. feed the poor with the left overs of the food they grew and you made it impossible for them to buy.

My mother taught me that charity should be for optional extras ie decorating a children's ward with Disney pics, and not for buying the beds in the first place.
