I treat LiveJournal/Dreamwidth very differently than I treat Facebook, to the extent that one is my private personal space and the other is my public work space. I hate the idea that my Livejournal will come to the attention of my Facebook.

You've said things that, if I said them, would be in breach of my work contract :-D

That's why I don't want to use my real name.

I think the biggest issue with prior social additional to LJ were the way they tended to default to "broadcast" mode. Items like this, where you have to explicitly add code to provide the service, aren't nearly as big an issue, at least for me.

Seconded! Need tickyboxes!

I quite like the implementation of this. If it was automatically added to every entry I wouldn't be too happy (but seeing as I don't even use LJ much anymore, it doesn't really bother me). But as it's optional for the post owner, who then has the choice as to whether their post gets to be liked or not, then it's a cool feature. Although it might be nicer if it were a tick-box rather than a tag you have to add!

Ditto. Tag seems messy; not the sort of thing that belongs in body text.

My personal LJ style, in which I view all posts, has a bug which causes those buttons not to show up (though I can see them if I manually switch back to your style).

I think I'm going to reclassify that bug as a feature :-)

So will you basically post here, then hit the Like/Tweet button to use your facebook/twitter to "advertise" your latest incisive post in case people use that social network but not LJ?

Facebook is all about news feed spam, you're using it wrong clearly.

What buttons were on this post?

Adblock & noscript stopped everything but the +1 without me even telling them to.

Hm. Very useful in principle. But I think doubleclick.net has ruined me for any sort of cross-site stuff, my visceral reaction is not "oh, cool" but "When I logged into facebook, I don't want every site I view to automatically be able to find out my real name, and facebook to automatically track every site I visit". (I don't know if they do do that, but I don't like they COULD.)
