Good point, hadn't thought of that aspect. Wool's actually a pretty good material on its own. Keeps you warm, evern when damp.

Well, the dirt sits on top of the treatment, so it isn't hydrophobic itself.

It should actually be easier to wash, as you can completely submerge the stuff, and give it a good scrubbing, without worry about it getting wet!
