Sadly I was put off by his accent and fannishness. I don't know why I find slavish new-Who fannishness more embarrassing than other fannishness but I sort of do - it instills in me the same feeling that I got the time some kid said to me that they liked "real punk, before it was all commercialised - you know, like Blink-182".

And I don't even actually like old Who, personally, so it's a clearly irrational instinct, but there it is.

All-in-all I sincerely hope that your assertion is disproven by the fact that I will see said show myself tonight.

No. It was a perfectly good idea, and more "children's TV" than any Dr Who episode we've seen in a while. But it the ending was weak, and it didn't really hang together very well. It felt like less than the sum of its parts.

I love old Who, not really a huge fan of new Who, but I agree with you here. I found the video too embarrassing to enjoy it.

And Blink-182 is real punk? I like how punk sounded before everyone started singing as though their noses were blocked.
