What if Mario had a portal gun?

And I'd play a game like that - it looks like it would be a fun puzzle-solver.

I remember someone did make a 2d platform portal clone (in flash?). I recall it as pretty good, but not really adding anything to the idea.

I played that - the problem with it is that it didn't throw stuff at you like the Mario game does. You were using portals purely to solve puzzles. Making it also a platformer gives it a different spin that might be fun.

I think we need more game mashups. When someone comes up with a new mechanic then I'd expect it to spread through all of the current genres to see where it sticks. The fact that it hasn't puzzles me a little. I wonder if they're worried that Valve will sue.

(Which they couldn't really - Prey got there first with portals.)
