In this case "used" can mean "updated on" or "read things other people using".

I follow scans_daily on Dreamwidth using Google Reader.

... if you count OpenID. (But I think it's reasonable to, because I get to maintain a list of things to read, upload my personal style to read them in, etc.)

I comment on people's DW posts IF they crosspost to LJ and IF they disable comments on that LJ crosspost.

In other words, Jennie.

If people do that, I defriend them on LJ or simply remove them from my default view because I don't to go over to Spamwidth to reply.

May I ask for a more detailed explanation for that than a cute nickname?

I have a DW account, but it didn't stick. I have my settings there set to receive no updates from them. They still arrive.

The only reason I have Dreamwidth is that I signed up for one back when people were saying they might be different or better than Livejournal, and stay signed in because why not?

In the mean time, though, I still don't *use* it for anything because it is mindblowingly unbearably ugly and *cannot be made non-crap*. At one point one of the DW style designers tried to help me create a simple, useful, non-crap style... and while she got it working for herself, she was unable to find a way for me to copy it or duplicate it.

Dreamwidth layouts are all, by coded fiat, hideous. Until I can get a "my style" that doesn't suck, there is no reason to rewrite my greasemonkey scripts to always append "?style=mine" to Dreamwidth URLs the way it does to LJ ones, and until I can enforce a non-shitty style on other people's hideously unreadable unusable aesthetic decisions, Dreamwidth posts are basically useless.

I want them to implement Generator because it's better than any of their styles. And that's Generator.

I do have a DW account, though all it is used for is as a backup - which is useful - and for replying to Jennie's posts. As [livejournal.com profile] theweaselking states above, it looks and feels horrible compared with LJ; I find it utterly counterintuitive.

Yes, I agree, I don't really understand why people find it counterintuitive. It's about as difficult to learn as LJ was way back when I started using it, I think.

I don't even know what dreamwidth is, except it's mentioned at the bottom of all your posts. The name makes it sound like some kind of social networking site for tweenage girls who love fairies and sparkly things.

You should add an extra box for "And I post the same updates on all the above"

Did you post this right after mine intentionally to make me feel inadequate?

*Pats* I was making a funnyjoke.

And then you ruined it with the explanation!
