(New version of The Three Musketeers. Made of explodey. And possibly Steampunk. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, whose best movie is probably Mortal Kombat. Or possibly Resident Evil. Maybe Event Horizon. But definitely not anything that might be mistaken for _good_. Maybe fun though.)

Doesn't really make me want to go and see it. Sucker Punch on the other hand......I shall be going to see on Friday.

Yeah, tell me about Sucker Punch. All I have heard about it was a 30 second trailer... Sod Three Musketeers.

As far as I can gather it has no plot and is essentially 90 minutes of action sequences. But it has Steampunk Death Nazis.

all reviews of SP say the same:

no plot, no acting. Who fucking cares : SHINY!!!!!!!!
which is just fine with me.

I thought you were talking about 3 Musketeers IN 3D having Steampunk death nazis. That would be awesome.

Matthew Macfadyen and Ray Stevenson! I wonder if they will be enough to save it. Insufficient Oliver Reed, as always in modern versions.

Bad. And Wrong. have they read the book? That looks like the steampunk version of the 1993 Disney garbage.

The trailer did make me think of Wild Wild West, which is not a good thing.

It looks huge fun, but clearly needs a different title.

Save me Matthew MacFadyen!

Hmm... not WILDLY excited over this I must confess. But then with the exception of "Event Horizon" nothing Paul W.S. Anderson's done since "Shopping" has thrilled me much.

"Shopping" is a personal fav though...

Yeesh. I think people commonly forget that despite being "old", Three Musketeers is an adventure romp, and fits pretty well into the formula of a modern action film. It's supposed to be over the top -- but not that over the top! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the above, and will no doubt like this too :)

WTF? Flying ships?!!!? Was it secretly directed/written by Terry Gilliam, perhaps?

I was not surprised that Paris IN 3D was exploding IN 3D. Ray Stevenson IN 3D looks cool IN 3D.

Looks pretty true to the book to me, from what I can remember. "Mon dieu!" dit Aramis, "La France - c'explode!"
