See, in theory I like the idea of cover versions of songs that radically change the style, etc. Punk versions of songs from other genres are a particular fave, the Joan Jett/Paul Westerberg version of Let's Do It remains an all time favourite.

But somehow, hearing a punk song slowed down and turned into, what, lounge bar smooth? is Just Wrong damnit!

Oh, that's brilliant. I love that song, quite a lot, and he's doing it in a very interesting way.

I don't think [personal profile] miss_s_b agrees though, but she's in the bath.

I liked the first one, but the second not so much.

I think it's possible that, at a basic level, Teen Spirit is simply not actually a very good song in an of itself. Teen Spirit as performed by Nirvana, in the way it was intended, is brilliant, but the song itself doesn't seem to work in any other version.

Well, except Weird Al's, but I don't think that counts.

Weirdest. Nirvana. Cover. Ever. Even the Rickroll mashup is less weird. (actually I quite like the Rickroll mashup, so that's an unfair comparison).

The image strikes me as stranger than the music. Although I recall giving someone the finger when I was in pre-school or kindergarten, and getting in trouble for it.

OK, I'm old.
But what's the point of a video with no video?
