I had a conversation with someone about putting photos onto one of the kiosks from their phone today:

"So how do I do it?"
"Well, you can either use your Bluetooth to send photos to the kiosk, or you can use a cable to connect it up and transfer them that way."
"There's no other way?"
"Well, I could CRAM IT INTO ONE OF THE SLOTS if you like..."*

Can you take the SD card out and plug it in directly? I'm sure I've seen ones that did that.

If it's got an SD card, yeah, you can. There are a multitude of ways to upload photos on the kiosks.

And lol. We do chase the cats off the laptops at least three times a day.

My netbook has an error I've never, ever seen before. It gets a little loading bar and says 'windows is loading files' and then hangs. Fine, fuck it, I'll run a recovery disk. Oh. Disk. I have no optical. Ok, I'll install to USB... and Windows 7 doesn't provide bootable USB recovery files. Fuck it, I'll install Ubuntu.

I remember running Shadowrun and having a vague puzzle at whether it would be so difficult to move files around as it was in 1994 or so.

How did you get Windows 7 on there in the first place?

I have no idea. :) My previous laptop's hinge snapped, so I sent it off to a lovely techie. He fixed that, swapped in a new fan, and the screen wouldn't start. He tried a couple of replacement parts but in the end suggested I just keep the courtesy netbook.

Aaaah. I was going to say that most machines nowadays had the restore data on a separate partition on the hard drive. And you then boot off of the secondary partition to fix windows.

But it's hard to know what's going on with a courtesy netbook that anything could have happened to!
