I posted a poll yesterday on LJ, and then one on DW asking if people would have voted there if it had been there.

Final tally (well, 24 hours later, so final enough): 101 on LJ, 13 on DW. Which settles that, so long as there isn't a way to do a poll in both at once I'll be posting polls on LJ (and a link on DW to them).

Did you post a poll on DW with a link from LJ? Given your footers I assume many people will be inclined to basically follow the LJ version and not the DW version (unless they're inclined to keep an eye on twice as many posts)

Nope, I didn't. But then that was the point - if I'd posted it on DW then most people wouldn't have seen it, because I'm not being read there as much.

In my experience people don't follow links that much (and yes, I know that sounds odd as I'm largely a linkblog).

Surprisingly (to me) I missed both. Not quite sure how, but I would've sworn they weren't in the places they are now in my Friends/Reading pages.

Oops, I'm not yet in the habit of checking DW as much for such content, at the moment it's mainly feeds I read over here.

I don't actually feel the need to push other people to change services. If they're happy with LJ then that's fine.

I intend to stop crossposting as soon as image hosting turns up on DW. That's the point I'll consider it fully-functioning. I'll still read LJ, but have no wish to keep feeding their advertisers.

That's fair enough, but I have no intrinsic objection to adverts, especially as I never see them.

If other people want an ad-free service, then I'm glad they can view me on DW (where I also pay), but I'm not going to force people to switch.

If I stop my postings going to LJ then I'm forcing them to either switch to DW or stop following me. As I have many real friends who are perfectly happy with LJ, I'm not willing to either cut them off or force them to change.

Oh, and I host my images on photobucket a fair chunk of the time. Works well.

I know that, but I want an easy way to lock them. I could host them myself so they'd only show in my DW posts, but I can't be arsed setting it up. I really didn't think it'd be years before DW gave us image-hosting...

If you didn't copy/post everything to LJ anymore, I'd certainly start reading your posts on DW (as well as doing polls there), because you post a lot of interesting things. So far, I haven't had much reason or impetus to use DW, because the people on my lists who post there also copy their posts here.

If you posted a poll on DW and linked to it from LJ, I would take the poll (assuming it's a poll I'd otherwise take). But then, sometimes I get around to polls a few days late anyway.

Maybe you should have a poll regarding how many LJ people would read you on DW if you didn't also post to LJ.
