That last one is England and Wales only. Restrictive Covenants went in Scotland a few years ago.

Amazon won't be the only game in town for a while, because whichever of Barnes & Noble and Borders manages not to die will do a good deal better without the competition from whichever one does die.

In the UK, Borders has closed down leaving only Waterstones standing (aside from a few small, independent bookshops) selling books on the high street. I think it is only a matter of time until it closes its doors and either becomes an online only retailler or closes completely.
