ISTM that a certain kind of intolerance and militance generates these sorts of comments. The implication of Dawkins here seems to be that these sorts of attacks are the sole domain of the theist, but of course after this video was recorded Dawkins got exactly the same treatment from his own followers, including one describing him as an "utter twat" a "suppurating rectum. A suppurating rat's rectum. A suppurating rat's rectum inside a dead skunk that's been shoved up a week-old dead rhino's twat."

Dawkins expresses incredible surprise that he's been called such a thing, but this is quite a normal sort of thing for the people on his forum to call other people - he's just astonished that they called him such a thing.
