How does the Facebook study look in the light of your dubiousness (at least) about self-esteem.

I'm a little surprised (should I be?) that they checked for a corelation between logging in and narcissism rather than amount of posting.

Me too, very much so. I'm pretty much constantly logged-in to Facebook, and I am indeed high in narcissism and low on self-esteem. However, compared to most of my friends I post very little, and I only ever glance down my news feed in terms of interaction. I use Facebook as a tool for looking at photos of my friends, organising my social calendar, and communicating with people I don't talk to often enough to remember their email off-hand.
