Thanks for posting this. Nice to see the figures so clearly put (and to not have to work out the number-crunching myself)!

You should extend it to include the BNP/Greens/UKIP/SNP/DUP etc.

Add seats won under a perfectly proportional system?

I've been listening to some (intelligent) commentary on your election, which has been interesting.

It seems to me that the upshot is: The British people don't really trust any of the three major parties, (for good reason,) and the vote result shows they hope these people will find a way to work together to solve Britain's deep problems.

Even with this recent result, I still admire your political system. The two-party-winner-take-all approach here in America has led to divisiveness among the citizens, and we know our system is hopelessly corrupt and too heavily influenced by large corporations and their lobbyists.

I believe that we need to "destroy" our current system, (both at the federal level and here in California,) and replace it with a type of parliamentary system similar to yours, but hopefully more progressive in its inception.

there's an interpretation of the results that 36% of the people strongly trust the Tories and 27% strongly trust Labour and that they just happen to be distributed such that neither of these two can get a majority of seats.

I think your assertion that people hope they'll work together is probably correct, but it's not directly evidenced by the vote.

but you share our electoral system - "first past the post" is (AIUI) just the British name for what the USAns call "winner takes all".
