I can't remember where I saw it, possibly on datinandrelatin or another community, but I'm sure I read an account of a bloke who'd set up the 'free e-mail or text message reminder' scheme for his girlfriend, who then prosecuted him for harrassment when they broke up and he didn't manage to make them stop sending the messages!

Probably a completely different service, though – just a curious story.

It's an interesting story. I wonder why he found it so hard - but if email addresses had changed then it could be hard, especially if if it had to be done via her email address and she wasn't cooperating.

Thankfully this one includes a "cancel this reminder" link in every email it sends out.

Did you know Google calendar can pretty much do the reminder thing by email and text?

Yup - but then I have 120 entries in my calendar. And as I mostly read it on the front page of my phone, which displays the next five entries, that would change from:
7pm - Gaming at Bills
30/1 - BSG murder mystery
01/02 - in early for penetration testing
02/02 - Agile session
04/02 - Front of flat being sanded
to
7pm - Gaming at bills
28/1 - Take pill
29/1 - Take pill
30/1 - Take pill
30/1 - BSG murder mystery

which is significantly less useful.

I see your problem, but you could avoid it by, instead of going to a different website to maintain reminder info, setting up a separate google calendar for reminder type stuff and continuing to use your existing one as is.

Good point - and I've just remembered that I have a second google id that I could use the calendar from!
