Regarding fish-oil...at no point in the article did I see HOW MUCH it affects ageing. Which might be considered, y'know, pertinent.

For "fish-oil" I generally read "snake oil", unless I've found my way in to the primary literature, and even than you need to read carefully. The benefits of consuming fish oil tablets have been ... somewhat ahead of the hard evidence, shall we say.

David Colquhuon - and it may well be The David Colquhoun has a pop in the comments of the article for being rubbishy cut-and-paste of a press release via PA, and another commenter gives this as the possible actual citation:
http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/303/3/250
Association of Marine Omega-3 Fatty Acid Levels With Telomeric Aging in Patients With Coronary Heart Disease

Ramin Farzaneh-Far, MD; Jue Lin, PhD; Elissa S. Epel, PhD; William S. Harris, PhD; Elizabeth H. Blackburn, PhD; Mary A. Whooley, MD

JAMA. 2010;303(3):250-257.

... from which I note they found a correlation of blood levels of EPA+DPA and slowing of telomere shortening in people with coronary heart disease. It's in actual people, which is cool, but it's correlation, not causation, of course.

A post that mentioned chocolate got fifteen times as many comments as one that mentioned government-sanctioned murder. :-)
