Various people have mentioned PhotoSynth to me, but I hadn't got around to it, on the grounds that I'm a jaded near-dead sort (cf previous birthday post) and thus no longer excited by technology.

Only I then got around to taking a look, and good Lord it's pretty. It takes a bunch of photos, works out what the original 3D scene looked like and then allows you to zoom about the 3D space checking out individual photos

Incredible use of technology - and one I can actually see being useful in the future rather than just a pretty tech demo.

Just watched it.:) Couldn't this be a Semantic web kinda`thing? they said they used the meta data to "key" the Flickr pix together of Notre dame..
