An evening of stories

First, off to Brokeback Mountain, which was cinematically gorgeous, sparsely powerful in its writing and horribly depressing overall.  It's great, but it's a film to learn lessons from, not to emulate.

Oh, and no pudding.

Then home, where I got to read Issue 69 of Lucifer, which was fantastic, and neatly tied things up in a way that was fairly unexpected.  6 issues to go and it's over - the only comic I actually buy on a monthly basis.

Looking forward to Brokeback Mountain.

How far behind are the Lucifer collections to the story at present? I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it when you loaned me the books. Much better than 95% of Sandman IMHO and without the pretension. :)

The story is up to 69. The collections will be up to 61 when the next one comes out.

Oh, man. I forgot to look for the pudding when Annie and I went to see it. The movie was so engrossing. And sad.

I want to see Brokeback Mountain, but E. Annie Proulx is my second all-time hated writer, right behind Cormac McCarthy, so I'm iffy. I am also afraid that I will be forced to lipfart if the characters have the stupid names that Proulx often saddles upon her hapless characters. The American West never sucks as much as it does when filtered through Proulx's colon.

You mean to say that there are shops where you live that sell comics which AREN'T the dandy, beano, or simpsons? You blaspheme! Such a place could certainly never exist where I live...
