It's fascinating to me to see [livejournal.com profile] zarabee wishing us all a Merry Christmas directly under a post from [livejournal.com profile] theferrett talking about relaxing on Christmas Eve - it's 8am with her, and 5pm for him, in Australia and the US respectively.

I'm midway between - it's 10pm here in England - but I'm an especially odd position, as my family gives presents on Christmas Eve, a continental tradition due to my grandmother's Austrian heritage. Which means I already _have_ my copy of the complete Babylon 5, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones and various cool books (plus [livejournal.com profile] surliminal gave me "In the Shadow of No Towers" last week), and am busy playing the present we gave my father (much Settlers of Catan boxes).

It's interesting to Christmas not as an event, but as a series of bits and pieces, smeared out over time zones and date lines.

It is interesting to note things like that. I share similar traditions to you - the main meal is on christmas eve, not on the day itself, and (due to south african relatives, some of whom have emigrated to australia) the timezone shifting. What's Prince of Persia like?
