So, on the spur of the moment a couple of days ago, I picked up a ticket to see Neil Gaiman tonight.
So tonight, I was sat at the very closest table to the front, with
tisme,
0olong,
diotina and two other people who are on LJ, but whose LJ-names I didn't get, while Mr Gaiman read to us from Anansi Boys and then answered questions.
Anansi Boys sounded pretty good, but I'll wait for the paperback.
Interesting answers:
Miracleman is currently held up because Todd McFarlane's company went bankrupt, and so the rights are tied up until they can be sorted by the bankruptcy court. (question asked by me)
He's very happy for slash writers to write what they like, so long as he doesn't have to read it (question asked by
tisme)- and is amused by the fact that he wrote 90,000 words of Aziraphale & Crowley, while there are now far more words dedicated to their forbidden love. Oh, and he first encountered slash in physical form, back before there was much of an internet, at a convention. And it was Knight Rider slash. Oh, and he's read the opening paragraphs of a couple of sex-fics involving himself. He can understand the one involving him, Tori and Trent. But him and Dave Mckean?????
He's possibly going to be involved in Dr Who? at some point - but no details as yet and it depends on his schedule calming down over the next year or so.
The Death movie is still in the works - now with New Line. It's currently budgeted at $29,000,000 - if he can get it down to $20,000,000 then it's a go. (question asked by me when I was having stuff signed)
And the Good Omens sequel has gone from a laughable idea to a vaguely plausible one, since he and PTerry got stuck at a boring lunch together and spent it throwing ideas back and forth.
Also, I got my Cerebus 147 signed (it has Neil's 8 page 24-hour comic Being an Account of the Life and Death of the Emperor Heliogabulus in the back of it). So I am remarkably happy.
