You don't, you know. You've just fallen victim to the Google Maps screwed-URL trick!

[I did the same at work last week, when I generated maps for about a dozen different venues we use, carefully cutting and pasting the URLs from the location bar - you need to click on the "link to this page" button to get the URL of the page you're actually on]

Oh, and Multimap *used* to have nice high-res aerial views of Edinburgh.

[Meandering further, if you look at the relevant Multimap aerial photo, you can see it was taken the day before the London Eye was swung up to vertical]

Multimap has aerial views of bits of Edinburgh. But not my bit.

Multimap had the whole of Great Britain once, as did the other lot (Streetmap?) but the folk they were licensing it from wanted too much cash, so they moved to another provider who didn't really have much outside England.

I think I still prefer the Multimap version for getting aerial views of places like Stonehenge and various assorted chalk sculptures: not only do you need an actual postcode for the Google interface, but the images are watermarked.

damn, just tried it and it's gone pants. They used to have MUCH closer in images a few years a go - to seeing your house levels.

Loganlea avenue, eh? Hehe, portabello road......Er, Ahem - I use multimap, as they're fine for most things....but what's wrong with just getting the raw 300 odd meg files from the university of dundee satellite receiving station? :D.

The Google Maps are amazingly cool, particularly for London where the resolution is much higher than the millennium mapping, and (especially cool) appear to be infinitely draggable.
