It doesn't suck as much as Iranian ones do:

Iran's election watchdog has disqualified all but six of more than 1,000 candidates for the presidential election, state television reports.

The Council vets all contestants for their moral values and support for the Islamic system of government.

Former president and poll favourite Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, four conservatives and a reformist make up the approved field of candidates.

The four hardliners are the former police chief, a former commander of revolutionary guards, the mayor of Tehran and the former head of state radio and television.

Iran's former parliamentary speaker Mehdi Karrubi remains on the list, but correspondents say he had not been the reformists' main contender.

The conservative-dominated Council of Guardians has blocked women from running for the office.

You'd think this news story would create even a blip on American TV news, perhaps they are worried it will motivate Hilary Clinton too much.

Lol.

I don't hold up much hope of America lifting its eyes up from itself any time soon. I mean, a bunch of people decided to fly two planes into buildings because they didn't like American foreign policy, and they haven't changed it in the slightest, quite the reverse....

I hate to say this but America sucks in a lot of ways I never even thought about until I started living here. It's thoroughly depressing.

Mmm. I used to think of it as land of the free, like I was lead to believe.

Then I bought the Wall Street Journal and New York Times at a petrol station on the way to cornwall. Along with Private Eye.

Now I see it as land of the almighty dollar. Private Eye is excellent, although thoroughly depressing (apart from when it is absolutely hilarious)...

Might I ask what nationality you were previously? I'd quite like to see Cuppertino, CA (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Cupertino+CA+95014&hl=en) (Apples' headquaters are at one infinite loop there), but frankly, your countries' dedication to bible-bashing and the right wing 'tradition', er, repulses me <_<. Sure Boston is lovely though :P.
