Just downloaded the new Star Wars trailer (shown yesterday on US TV, undoubtably making its way to the cinema at some point).

Oh My Goodness.

If I wasn't going to bed soon anyway I'd need to change my pants.

I got all excited when the trailer started in the theater (seeing The Incredibles) -- until I realized it was for the *new* movie. I'm still waiting to see the first trilogy in the theaters again, all at once. (Yes, I know I may be waiting a long, long time.)

You'll then need a program that can unRAR things - I used 7-zip. Oh, and you'll need the right codecs to watch it. I installed the k-lite codec pack, which got everthing working.

The chances of the actual film being any good, after the last 2 dire-beyond-dire efforts are, sadly, minimal-to-none...

I love the way that the plot of the sextet is coming together - the way that the events in each trilogy are mirroring each other. I love the way that the Jedi/Republic are being manipulated and that Sidious is slowly bringing things around in his direction - the way that the entire trade war in the first film, for instance, was engineered to get Palpatine into power.

The dialogue, as ever sucks, but was only particularly painful a couple of times.

The direction I actually liked - he still can't direct people, but he does a good job elsewhere, and the battle scenes at the end really worked for me - especially the shaky pullbacks.

And the references to other films were good - all three of the attacking monsters in the big pit looked like references to B-movie monsters of times past - one of them looked suspiciously like a Gila monster shot in close-up, which was marvellous.

And despite some people's opinions I thought that Hayden Christiansen was very good - he's playing a whiny, spoiled, egotistical brat who thinks he's better than everyone else, and sadly enough mostly _is_ - perfect for corruption to the dark side if you ask me.
