[Poll #442267]

i.e. if I google for Andrew Ducker then I'm top. [livejournal.com profile] catamorphism thinks this is fairly common - so I'd like to find out how many of you are...

I'm not, but a dumb question I posted to a Debian list is.

I'm at least the top 10 entries. Didn't feel like continuing looking. But I've been online a long time, published things, been involved in somewhat interesting internet law, etc. Leaves footprints.

Define "I am the top entry"? I'm not, but an article I wrote is.

Nah. Just evil...

I think actually many folk with fairly rare names should turn up several times near the top of a Google ego-surf. Mine just works out that way because places I write or have been linked from have lots of Google juice...

When Scoble links you, Google listens!

It changes, though. When I first searched for my name on the web, I was the only Steve Glover to appear. Then there was the spammer internet marketeer (which caused problems when an interviewer thought I was that one), then the French teacher, and then the chemist. The musician, the accountant and the guy from Jackass all turned up at the same time about two or three years ago, but thanks to the power of the blogosphere, I'm back on top!

For now, anyway....

Yes, but narrowly followed by a poet, a baronet (who composes organ music, and is the grandson of an eminent architect), and a management consultant of some sort.

If I put it in quotes, I'm the only entry....

There appear to be only 4 Simon Bissons in Google - me, a chap in Sussex who flies model jets, a counsellor on Christian summer camps in the US, and a Canadian ice hockey player.

Oddly I get strange French-Canadian IMs from girls who seem to be fans of the last one.

Maybe I should go back to using my full surname. Then there'd definitely be only one of me online. No more dopplegoogles.

In fact, I'm the only person with my name mentioned anywhere on the Web, except for some Montessori school teacher in Massachusetts who didn't appear until recently, and who I resent GREATLY.

I'm the only entry. As far as I know I'm the only person in the world with my first-and-last-name combination (it's quite likely, as most people with the surname are German, and Kate isn't a German name).

[livejournal.com profile] marypcb gets to be the first 30 on her name - and that's only down to geneology site poisoning of name searches...

Nope. There seems to be a whole lot of me's. I blame the pods.

Yeah, mine's not usually a Jewish name (my lot arrived in the UK in about 1900, in fact). And the only ones in the UK are my grandparents, parents, sister, nephew, me and my daughter - it's not that common a name altogether. I don't even think there's a Kate of that name in the US, though I once found a reference to a Katie/ Kathleen.

My fellow Rich Furmans are a Poet and a Social Worker, both of whom outrank me by a good bit.

I suspect that's because it's a misspelling (so I've been told). Nothing noble about ancestral illiteracy, sadly.
