Well I'm not 100% convinced by the new Hitchhiker's Guide trailer, but I'm happy to say that Ford actually seems about right, as does everyone else.  It's not the book, but it seems to be taking much the same jumping off points and touching on similar bits and pieces as the book/tv series/radio series (which were also all different to each other).  It looks generally 'larger' and more visually oriented, but I'm willing to give that a go.

Anyway, take a look at the trailer here (I've removed the trailer from the surrounding Amazon page, so it's full screen)

I watched it again and you are right there are indeed 2 heads and 3 arms. They only appear from under his cloak in one scene in the trailer though. After doing a bit of digging, it would seem that the extra head and arm only appear in a few scenes in the film. The decision to keep them hidden in most of it was taken because of a small special effects budget.

Small budget! Blimey the BBC managed to give us 2 heads and 3 arms, for a whole 6 episodes, on a budget of 2 shillings and sixpence.

Yes, but that head looked like crap.

It did, but it served it's purpose. The original was made in an era when visual effects were unimportant and plot and content mattered more.

Modern films (and TV) seem obsessed with unsing the latest SFX, which often cost a fortune, when an old fashioned model would do just as good a job, something I think George Lucas in particular needs to rermember.

Better to have an extra head an arm which only appear occasionally than an extra head and arm which are constantly there, but do nothing and are obviously made out of plastic, I'd have said.
