It's a silly question as the real issue is not what you need but what you LIKE. What we actually need is food, drink, warmth, shelter and (I would assert) cuddles.

Do a different poll. For myself I certainly like sex better than books en generale (tho not all sex, and not all books) but I probably like my mum's fried fish with cauliflower cheese and mashed potatoes better than either.

It also depends on what you mean by Sex. If that's P->V sex only, it's not overly important and I'd swap it and broadband. If by Sex, you mean _any_ kind of intimacy then, it would have to battle with Books for first. As it is, I faked it and did some averaging.

That's a good differentiation. if you gave me a choice of lifelong (intermittent!) penetration or cuddles, I;d take cuddles.

oh, well. that would have changed my answers. and for the sex, it depends. if it were just p->v sex like wolfieboy says, it'd be #1 for me, since i've lived easily w/o it so far. but if it were any kind of sex including masturbation and any fantasies of an arousing nature, then it would be a lot higher.

I ranked broadband as low as I did since there's an easy subsitute and there are no substitutes for chocolate, sex, and books. Broadband probably plays a bigger role in my life than the three of those, though, unfortunately.

Ek; if you sub 'internet' for 'broadband', it would have to switch places with books. I needs me my webcomics and journals and forums and scanlation sites and art galleries! The internet saves me from ever having to leave the house except to buy drugs! *froths at the mouth*

But of course sex must be the #1 priority. If y'all had a boy like mine, you'd answer the same. :D :D :D

Looks like TV and Chocolate are the least desireable. TV is pretty well replaced by the 'net I'd have thought - but given the number of avowed chocolate addicts I know I'm surprised how badly it's doing. Might be interesting to split the results male/female and see if that makes a difference?

I voted by imagining it as a kind of desert-island pleasures quiz. Which would I prefer, a life with only sex (or chocolate!) to ever look forward to, or of the diversity of interests provided by books and the other media. The first two could become a kind of hell, while the latter would be at least some sort of consolation.
