Mozilla Firefox 0.9 just got released.

So I downloaded it.

And went to install Tabbed Browser Preferences.

And they don't work with the latest version yet.

The most commonly used extension and it doesn't work with the latest release.  What the hell were they thinking?

Egads. @_@ I think I'll wait a bit before upgrading, then.

Eh, he's referring to the Tabbed Browser Extensions plugin, I believe.

I'm using Show Old Extensions 0.1.3 to run Tabbrowser Extensions and a couple other old ones succesfully--at least nothing's broken so far. YMMV, and I won't be ditching 0.8 completely yet either, just in case.

Remove 0.8 TOTALLY. Then reinstall from the site.

Realised this was a bit... vague?

Uninstall 0.8. Delete the settings directories - on XP, it's in C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\. Look for anything named Firebird, Phoenix, or Firefox. Delete. Mind you, export your bookmarks to someplace else before you do.

Install 0.9. Go to the site and install. There is a list of working extensions here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=79512

Hope it works.

Apparently the instructions included uninstalling 0.8 before 0.9, but apparently the packaged readme was for Mozilla, not Firefox. And the fact that the installer offered to port the settings didn't help either, I suppose.

The point of a technology preview isn't to make it complete. =P. That's the philosophy behind open-source, really - the emphasis isn't on a workable end-product. The emphasis is for people to go debug it and find solutions for the problems.

Sorry about the other comment (http://www.livejournal.com/users/andrewducker/677132.html?thread=3022860#t3022860), I posted it before seeing this one.
