Lost....In Translation

Int: Scarlett Johannsen's bottom. It is clothed in underwear so sheer that it may not actually be there.
Scarlett Johannsen's bottom: You'll be seeing a lot of me later.
Scarlett Johannsen: I am young and filled with ENNUI because I have an UNHAPPY marriage and feel lost in this strange world. Also, I am smarter than those around me although I never seem to read books, despite claiming to suffer from boredom and insomnia. I also like parading around in my UNDERWEAR.
Bill Murray: I am old and filled with ENNUI because I have an unhappy marriage and feel lost in this strange world. I am wittier than those around me and feel UNHAPPY at having to lower myself to spending 5 days posing in front of a camera for two million dollars. Despite the vast amounts of money I have, I can't afford to hire an English-speaking guide.
Despite having nothing in common but ENNUI and the inability to do anything but stare wistfully out of the window at NEON all night, they somehow get on perfectly.
A week passes. They wander through gorgeously shot streets full of NEON and are CONFUSED and LOST. She visits various bits of historical japan and is CONFUSED and WISTFUL. A variety of disconnected events transpire, none of which mean ANYTHING.
Bill Murray: I must go home. Although I probably won't be happy there. You have no idea what my motivation is for this. I'm not even sure I have one.
Scarlett Johannsen: I shall miss you dreadfully. Never before, in all my time at university or living wherever it might be that I live, have I ever met anyone else that suffers from ENNUI quite like you do.
Bill Murray: I'm off now.
He leaves.
He comes back.
He kisses her.
He leaves again.
The credits roll.
Audience: I have no idea what that was, but isn't Tokyo strange?

Date: 2004-01-19 10:02 am (UTC)Yep, passim. Hey at least Tokyo has English names on the tube & train stations now. It didnt when my parents were there (cue Basil Fawlty-esque exploits).
Bill Murray goes home cos otherwise he would have to shag SJ and the world wasn't quite up for the sight of that - not aesthetically pleasing at all...
