In answer to those people commenting on my wish to lose weight - I just hit 12 stone againe, which is 76 Kilos. And at that weight I don't look that bad, but my trousers are slightly too tight, and when I come down stairs quickly my stomach stops moving about half a second after I do.

I don't give much of a damn about my weight as an absolute. But I do like to feel comfortable. When my fat stops feeling like part of my body and starts feeling like a loosely attached layer that wants to fall off, I generally decide lose weight.

Yeah, I'm right about in the same frame of mind, there. My friends think I'll slip through the shower drain if I lose weight, but I want to stay wearing my 33-waist pants. And I just want to drop from 75 kilos to 70 kilos, not the 55 kilos I weighed when I was 18.

I'm getting slightly lard-laden myself
I'm fine by average weight/height calculations, but they don't take into account my fairly slender frame.
I specifically empathesise about feeling body parts still moving when you move in certain ways.

Like a broken record, I'll remind all you would-be flab busters that it's NOT about weight, it's about fat. If you do it wrong it's perfectly possible to end up lighter and smaller but actually fatter (and weaker).

The men will have less of a problem than us women (as in so many things!) but it is still there.

So go do some exercise too. No, not endless walking/jogging/whatever - you need to preserve your muscle. A couple of brief weights workouts a week shoving as much as you can handle and a few walking/running/swimming/cycling/whatever sessions will do no end of good. If you are a bloke, under 50 and not totally pigging out as a rule then you probably won't even need to change your eating habits much if at all.

Oh and remember if you think you are carting too much flab, it got there for a reason. You can't just 'diet' and get rid of it and go back to what you were doing before - unless you want the flab back too.

Right, I'm off to follow my own advice and do some exercise...

In what world is 12 stone considered overweight? Unless you're 4 feet tall or something...
