Fantastically cool zip-code viewer.

How visualisation should be done.

Most definitely, this is one of the simplest and most elegant ways to display information that I've seen, all it needs is a way to zoom in on specific locations.

Thank You!

That's really great!

I was explaining to someone (probably [livejournal.com profile] pickledginger) about how the zip codes basically started in the top right corner, went down the east coast and then continued across the US, so that Maine and Rhode Island start with a "0", Virginia is in the "2"s, Florida in the "3"s, Chicago is in "6" and Beverley Hills is in "9" but this map shows that so much better than I ever could (and isn't "5" amazing! So wide and yet I bet it has far less population than 0, 1 or 2!)

I hoped it would have some kind of mechanism for reverse identification--move the mouse over an area and it shows the zipcode somewhere, or even approximates it with some kind of visual scale. It's still slick.

I put in all the zip codes of where I used to live, then realized it doesn't do Hawai'i or Alaska. 96782 should be Pearl City, HI.

Still, it's pretty neat. I'd like to see one of these for Canada.
