Truth Is Beauty, No Really!

I don't mean in the sense of hurting people ("Ugly Truth") but in it's more abstract sense. Having failed my First Year Applied Maths exam for my Instrumentation &Applied Physics degree (which ment I had to drop out at the end of Year II all those years ago) I have only an instinctive grasp of maths. Nevertheless I can't but notice that those who delve into the arcane arts of Higher and Pure Maths wax lyrical about "proofs" (i.e. a form of Truth) being "elegant" and "beautiful". Granted this is a subjective "fact" but at which point do enough individuals agree on something to make a thing "objective" rather than "subjective"?
I leave this as an exercise for the class...
