Good advice on how to be socialised into any kind of group work setting.

I do find it amusing when the people who refuse to "waste time on meaningless chat",then also complain about being left out of things, unappreciated and not promoted. All those can happen for other reasons, many not within our control; there's no need to voluntarily make things harder for oneself.
