Mycoplasma aka walking pneumonia is not rare, at least in my part of the world. I was working in Singapore about 15 years ago and got it. It is a horrid disease that took several months and three rounds of increasingly vicious antibiotics to clear. I had to get a blood test to confirm what it was, but my GP diagnosed it as soon as he heard the cough (only COVID-19 was worse, I pulled a muscle in my ribs from coughing),and showed me the stack of test results from his other patients. It gets around.

There's a feline version too. Bus-stop cat got that from a flea-bite a few years later.
