My Dropbox Camera Uploads folder was up to 115GB and 18,000 files (dating back to 2010). So I went through and divided it into subfolders based loosely on years. Turns out that I take as many photos per year since Sophia was born as I took in the whole time from 2010 until her birth.

And that I take about 2,000 photos/videos per year, coming to about 15GB.

I also discovered that if you move 2,000 files from one Dropbox folder to another then it takes about 15 minutes to process the changes!

I have most of my photos grouped by year too. The number I've taken over the years has increased greatly too, more even than your numbers, which helps explain why I can't keep up with renaming and organizing them like I used to.

It's only a problem when I'm searching for particular photos. LLMs will probably be a great help to me both in the organizing and searching, if I get to trust any of them enough privacy-wise to give them access to my files. Hopefully that will be before I retire.

wow. That is a lot. I think my garden and Felix just took over from rock bands stuff, so I am pretty steady. I haven't organised my GooglePhotos backups at all, except tha t I pretty consistently make albums for eahc garden year and projects that get a lot of photos Seems to do me. When I used to do it manually, I did it by month. I dont often really look back at photos too much :-(.
