At this point it's basically a meme stock. If you Believe In Elon then it's worth a lot, even though the fundamentals are, well, not great.

3. Really interesting analysis of R&J, thank you! I definitely agree that the play is aware that marrying a 13yo is fucked up, but I hadn't thought about the part where Capulet only gets really impatient after Romeo kills Tybalt.

I'm not completely sure I buy that Juliet has agency. Arguably she doesn't have less agency than the male characters based on her gender, but almost all Shakespeare's major characters have at least interiority – he writes women as people pretty consistently. Few of them, any gender, have actual agency because they're all in the hands of fate, and he's also fairly realistic about women having less control over their lives than men. She makes choices, but they are very constrained choices, and if 13 is too young to be in an arranged marriage, it's also too young to really know that she wants to be with Romeo or indeed that she'd rather die than be sent to a convent.

True, Shakespeare's characters tend to be propelled through the story rather than getting to make actual choices. And you're right that at age 13 she's not going to be able to make many good choices in her situation!

Good observation. Yes, Shakespeare's characters kind of come from Ancient Greece. Maybe that's what makes their lives more complicated: navigating between one's fate and one's own will.
