Edinburgh roads: City's last 40mph limits set to disappear this summer as 30mph signs go up.

So there will be no new 40-limited buffers between the 60 and the 30 zones ?
I suppose that means that drivers can put there foot down as soon as they leave the 30 limit, but they are likely to be travelling faster as they pass into the 30 zone.

Legally speaking you're supposed to see the upcoming speed limit and reduce your speed to it by the time you cross it.

Practically speaking I know lots of drivers aren't great at that.

You get distance warnings on UK motorways for speed limits. In Germany, they don't, but often go 120, then 100 then 80 then whatever for roadworks and stuff.

I think I'm back to total avoidance of any world news to save my sanity. I mean, I've been pretty much there for decades, and definitely on near-total blackout since the day Trump got in. But I'm even going to start being selective about the links from here!
