Sophia learns a skill

Yesterday the takeout arrived while I was in the toilet. It took me fifteen seconds from the doorbell ringing to finish up and come downstairs to the front door.

Where I found Sophia (5) standing, holding the takeout, having opened the front door, explained that I was in the toilet, accepted the food, and brought it in.

So that's a new thing she can do!

I trust she understands that she only opens the door to people who are known or expected.

Although the odds of paedophiles ringing random doorbells in case a lone child answers them seems pretty tiny to be.

Like an unexpected, mini version of "Old Enough". And now you can go to the toilet with confidence when you are expecting a food delivery, which is also nice.

Our neighbors had ones your ages, very the same. She opened the door for me, accepted jam (we would share food weekly), and explained, "Mommies in the shower."
