I don't normally point people to things other people on my friends list have written, but in this case I'll make an exception:

When you visit the goth scene, you're expected to bring along a very definite sense of who you are and what your scene is.
"I'm not a goth... don't tell anyone. I'm a black metal girl"
"ah. I don't know what I am" I say honestly.
"how old are you?"
"I'm 22"
She was already getting up when she threw down a patronising "you'll find out"
