2. The night shift is concerning, but I did assembly line work and my sisters waited tables as teenagers, and I don't really see why either of those are inherently problems.

Here in the UK many of us from working class backgrounds had 'saturday jobs'

It gave pocket money to those of us with parents too poor to afford that.

I worked in a café at a motor racing circuit and also worked in a bingo hall

the problem is that the jobs discussed are jobs (assembly line work by kids that age was discovered by Reuters at auto parts plants, even a Hyundai assembly plant, in Alabama, for instance) that are hazardous even for adults.

6. While I've no objection at all to the name going into Welsh (as the Snowdon ranges have) was there really a need for the political correctness? Apparently 'beacons'(the bannau bit in Welsh) aren't green enough.

Don't these 'experts' know their own history? Why there was a need for beacons?

1. Definitely amusing. Whoever's handling the KitKat file is on point.

2. Slippery slope situation, with a goal of rolling back all labour rights protections back to at least 1850 if not further back. The children of Iowa are in genuine danger here. If the Republicans are already Hell-bent on restoring protection of law to slavery - and they are! - expect child labour to be similarly nightmarish again.

It is also an extremely embarrassing issue for the current Administration in Paris, that a faction in Queen Anne's Gate are being 'helpful' with France's political dissidents.
