5) Unfortunately the rebuttals look suspicious too. The BYU letter says there's no evidence Abegnale was ever associated with BYU, but that's the point of his story: he wasn't associated with BYU. What he claims is that he fooled them into thinking he was. BYU says he's a fraud. He agrees, he was a fraud. The other letter doesn't actually say anything.

6) The most disturbing thing is that the police think they're justified. They believe they have to behave this way.
