Some of you who are getting emails from Microsoft containing the newest security patch, for your convenience.

Some of you are getting emails from Ebay telling you that there's a problem with your account and asking for your details to fix it.

Some of you are getting emails which promise to help you get off of spamlists.

Will all of you please stop fucking clicking on anything in these emails!!!!!

Thank you.

I second that emotion! In the name of Eris can't these people see a cheap marketing ploy when I haven't used it?

Are the pseudo-ebay messages actually a marketing ploy? I had rather assumed they were ploys to acquire financial info so the people could simply rob you blind. I've gotten plenty of similar pseudo-paypal emails that seemed very obviously to be credit card theft scams.

The first time I got an email from "Earthlink" telling me I needed to update my credit card information, I actually *did* need to update my credit card information. But then I went and changed it through Earthlink's website, and not through the link in the email.

It was only a month later when I kept getting these "please update" messages that I looked at the links and realized it was a scam.

So, thanks Mr. Con Artist for reminding me that my credit card number had changed. Sorry the scam didn't work. Eat hot death.

I barely read the emails I get from you, let alone ones from companies...

Agreed

FYI, Microsoft doesn't send people Windows Updates by email. According to what I've read on those emails, they're actually carriers for a rather nasty virus.

And I don't trust anything that comes from spam anyway, especially not emails that promise to get people off spamlists.
