It's a wierd world where searching for "Squid Sex" could lead you to this BBC page.

Of course, I didn't have to, Nick emailed it straight to me.

Still, it isn't as bad as the link Aaron once sent me of Japanese ivory carvings on E-Bay representing squid having sex with a woman. Apparently this was "art" in the 19th Century (as opposed to a specialist market now in the 21st). Now you know why I call him Dr. Evil...

Isn't that still 'art' in Japan in the 21st century?

Those kookie Japanese....

This is wonderful! First, the idea that we'll actually have PICTURES of living giant squid, and second, that tv companies are furiously paying for project.

But the part I couldn't stop laughing at was this:

"But all that seemed to happen was the sperm whales got enormously frustrated by these things suction-cupped on the sides of their heads."

IMAGINE a sperm whale wanting to get something off his head??? These cameras must have had a SHORT lifespan.

I wonder if they learned anything about Sperm Whale Behavior from these cameras, like, what is Sperm Whalesong for "Hey, brother, come over here and get this damn thing off my head."
