Ah, gotcha. I can totally understand that (you'll note the lack of links to the Guardian here, amongst several others).

1) I've only seen one of these movies and I'm not very eager to see most of the others.

2) This is the first I'd ever heard that sesame allergy was even a thing. When I was a child I'd never even heard of peanut allergy. Everybody ate peanut butter back then, literally everybody. Where are all these allergies coming from??

2) I wonder how much of it is children with potentially deadly allergies surviving long enough to get diagnosed?

You're right. It's recognised that allergies are much more common now than before. I think the favoured reason is that it's an unexpected side effect of better hygiene for children. An immune system that's under-exposed to pathogens in early life is more likely to develop a hostile reaction to harmless substances, causing allergic responses. (But the immune system is still a weird and strange frontier of science, so how is unclear.)
