1. That would be good.

3. Neither do I these days. If Twitter can be rescued from Elon Musk, we'll revisit this topic.

4. It may not be that big a factor, but it still matters right now. There might be a cascading effect in 2024, if Democrats are careful, bold and lucky in the right measures over the next two years.

5. That bill doesn't go nearly as far as I'd prefer. I know that it's what can be had for now, and that still doesn't mollify me at all.

6. Pleased to read about such pushback.

11. Heh. Heh. Heh.

Of course the Murdoch family wants to replace Trump with far worse. Meanwhile, I'll just enjoy this while bewaring of who might be next.

A few of the Republicans who supported it are generally very conservative. There are cracks in that facade.

Flogging employees to put in long hours coding results in fairly crap code, as I recall. The coders who can go into flow state, keeping an entire system or module in mind as they work on it for hours at a time and producing solid code as they go, are the rare walk-on-water gods who have left Twitter or are being headhunted aggressively.

The filigree video is fabulous. I have a small collection of this kind of jewellery, vintage rather than antique, and I treasure it because nowadays it's not available any more. You can get convincing replicas with additive manufacturing, but no-one does the old-style techniques, because of loss of skills, and the cost of the time, and also the wastage costs of the materials. A jewellery manufacturer of my acquaintance told me that switching to additive manufacturing saved her a huge amount in lost gold. Previously, every year she had to burn the carpets in her workshop to recover the gold dust caught in it...
