Date: 2022-11-06 05:17 pm (UTC)I suspect that it would be possible to make copies that are identical for all practical purposes if the Trustees still wanted them on display. It's perfectly respectable to display copies of original works - in fact I believe a lot of "Greek" statues in collections are actually Roman copies of the originals. As it happens the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge has one of the largest collections of plaster casts of ancient statues in the world.
