I have a background in physical oceanography and tides in particular have always fascinated me. We have some of the strongest bore tides in the world here in Alaska. That global motion of the tides video is still mesmerizing...reminds me of a hypnotoad.

graveyard of fireflies is one of my favorites, but I admit, I'd never let a young child watch it.
