I got the impression from an FT article that one of the big banks (JP Morgan Chase?) which back Mastercard had second thoughts after the pressure was put on the banking system, and not so much on OF.

Apparently, OF supporters went after Visa and Mastercard. Somehow.

Some Republicans must have done the calculation of whether it's more advantageous to please the loud minority who don't want anybody getting anything that might make their life easier or the wide number of conservative hard workers who need those water breaks while they are doing their blue-collar jobs.
